When no people are around, the toys still play in the playroom. But since a toy will be frozen forever if a person catches it out of position, they have to be very careful. It’s Christmas Eve, and Rugby the Tiger remembers how he was the Christmas Toy last year, and thinks he’s going to be unwrapped again. And it’s up to Applethe Doll, whom Rugby supplanted as favorite toy, to tell him what’s in store. But Rugby won’t believe her, and tries to get into the Christmas package and lets Meteora, Queen of the Asteroids loose. Unfortunately, she doesn’t know she’s a toy, and thinks she’s landed among aliens. And it’s up to Apple, Mew (the Cat’s toy mouse), and the other toys to get Rugby out of the box and Meteora back in it before they’re found and frozen.

Blutoes the Christmas elf is a wonderful story about an elf who does not fit in with the others; his only real friend is a penguin. On Christmas Eve, Blutoes sneaks onto Santa’s sleigh so that he can see his penguin friend home safely. Bluetoes goes into to a house to keep warm while waiting for Santa. In this house there is a little boy and a little girl who are too poor to even have stockings, so Bluetoes takes of his socks, hangs them up as stockings and fills them with toys. Bluetoes is waiting outside for Santa in his bare feet, his toes turn blue and that it is why they call him Bluetoes.

Della Myers is an upper-class housewife that lives in a private condominium in the suburbs with her twin children and her abusive husband Kenneth. Della gives all the attention to the twins, neglecting their house and her appearance and upsetting Kenneth. On the Christmas Eve, she drives to the local mall in the night to buy wrapping paper for the gifts, and she does not find any parking space available. When she sees an old car parked on two spots, she leaves a message to the owner calling him “selfish jerk”. When the mall closes, Della’s car is hold by the driver of the old car and she is threatened by four punks - Chuckie, the Afro-American Huey, the Chinese-American Vingh and the Latin Tomás. When the security guard of the mall protects her, he is shot on the head by Chuckie, Della speeds up her car trying to escape from the criminals. However she crashes her truck nearby a forest while chased by the gang. She takes the toolbox and hides in the wood, fighting against the gang to survive.

It’s turning out to be a pretty rotten Christmas for the Saunders family.
